A <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalgeographic.com\/magazine\/2017\/06\/dinosaur-nodosaur-fossil-discovery\/\">newfound species of nodosaur<\/a>, with thorny armour to deter predators, it would have stretched 18-feet long and weighed almost 3,000 pounds during its lifetime between\u00a0110 million and 112 million years ago, and owes its remarkable level of preservation &#8211; even fossilized remnants of its skin remain intact &#8211; to a rapid burial after being swept\u00a0out by the sea.
