Street style, a pillar of fashion week just as much as celebrity spotting and the clothes themselves, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vogue.com\/slideshow\/milan-fashion-week-street-style-spring-2021\">even made a full-figured comeback<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/fashion\/2020\/sep\/23\/milan-fashion-week-italy-embraces-new-normal-at-fendi-show\">Fendi and Dolce &amp; Gabbana kicked off the action in front of small socially distanced crowds<\/a>. Silvia Fendi, in her last show as the brand&#8217;s sole designer before Kim Jones takes charge of womenswear, invited guests via monogrammed pasta and her grandmother&#8217;s lemon pesto recipe, before unveiling a show rich in scenery, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vogue.com\/fashion-shows\/spring-2021-ready-to-wear\/fendi\">featuring picnic hampers and paper-thin linens printed with blue skies and billowing trees<\/a>. Dolce &amp; Gabbana layered georgette and chiffon to style out a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vogue.co.uk\/news\/article\/dolce-gabbana-ss21-interview\">&#8216;patchwork of Sicily&#8217;<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Back in February, Lombardy was emerging as the epicentre of the growing coronavirus pandemic, as <a href=\"https:\/\/edition.cnn.com\/style\/article\/armani-fashion-week-coronavirus-trnd\/index.html\">Giorgio Armani pulled the curtain in front of an empty theatre<\/a>\u00a0and <a href=\"https:\/\/culturedarm.com\/staging\/5793\/cultureteca-08-03-20\/\">the fashion world hightailed it from Milan to Paris<\/a>. In one of fashion&#8217;s last flings before the reality of lockdowns and loungewear, Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons sat in plush green armchairs in the Fondazione Prada to announce <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vogue.com\/article\/miuccia-prada-and-raf-simons-join-forces-as-co-creative-directors\">an unprecedented collaboration<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The fruits of an inevitably compromised first effort were on display in Milan. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2020\/09\/24\/style\/milan-fashion-week-prada-fendi.html\">Clutch coats, full skirts, and satin shift dresses emblazoned with evocative prints adorned a cast of first-time catwalk models<\/a>, in a show screened virtually via Prada.com. Prada and Simons lingered afterwards to elaborate on their <a
