Named after the Wakefield-born artist\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/culturedarm.com\/staging\/5793\/daily-visual-24-06-15-barbara-hepworth-at-tate-britain\/\">Barbara Hepworth<\/a>, the gallery&#8217;s permanent collection is shaped around the sculpture of Hepworth and Henry Moore, with a <a href=\"https:\/\/culturedarm.com\/staging\/5793\/daily-visual-22-07-15-anthony-caro-in-yorkshire\/\">major exhibition<\/a> currently devoted to <a href=\"https:\/\/culturedarm.com\/staging\/5793\/caro-in-yorkshire-and-henry-moore-back-to-a-land-at-ysp\/\">Anthony Caro<\/a>. The building was designed by David Chipperfield, its sequence of trapezoids of varying heights and roof pitches, clad in pigmented concrete, an instance\u00a0of neo-brutalism mixed with deconstructivism, and allowing in light through full-length side windows and controlled roof slots. As the Hepworth Wakefield progresses towards its fifth anniversary, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hepworthwakefield.org\/news\/plans-for-a-new-public-garden-by-world-s-leading-international-garden-designers-are-now-on-display-at-the-hepworth-wakefield\/\">plans<\/a>\u00a0have\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wakefieldexpress.co.uk\/news\/local-news\/have-your-say-on-new-garden-design-at-the-hepworth-1-7507816\">emerged<\/a>\u00a0over the past few weeks for\u00a0a new\u00a0riverside garden sanctuary.<\/p>\n<p>The photographs show the main building from the front and rear; The Calder, the Hepworth Wakefield&#8217;s space for contemporary art installations; scrap figures, a boatyard, and the river&#8217;s flow; and artworks including Hepworth&#8217;s <em>Winged Figure<\/em> (in an aluminum version constructed as a prototype in 1962) and <em>Cor\u00e9<\/em> (1960), and Allan Kaprow&#8217;s tire-laden <em>YARD<\/em> (1961, reinvented in 2014).
