Soon Ume\u00e5 will be covered in a snow that\u00a0can lie contentedly\u00a0until March or April. These twenty-three images give something of the idea, taken last year around the opening of\u00a0Ume\u00e5 2014, as the city celebrated becoming\u00a0a European Capital of Culture<\/a>. Set entirely within the city centre – predominantly along Renmarkstorget, R\u00e5dhuseplanaden, and Kungsgatan – they feature ice sculptures, LEDs, snow slides, snowflakes, log fires, reindeer, and Ume\u00e5’s town hall, central station, and church.<\/p>\n
