Last Year In Umeå: Winter Daylight Fun

Soon Umeå will be covered in a snow that can lie contentedly until March or April. These twenty-three images give something of the idea, taken last year around the opening of Umeå 2014, as the city celebrated becoming a European Capital of Culture. Set entirely within the city centre – predominantly along Renmarkstorget, Rådhuseplanaden, and Kungsgatan – they feature ice sculptures, LEDs, snow slides, snowflakes, log fires, reindeer, and Umeå’s town hall, central station, and church.
