McLintock!

127 minutes | 13 November 1963 | United States

A homespun affair which saw John Wayne test his comic chops while expounding his views on political corruption, the cinematic treatment of Native Americans, and the nuclear family, in McLintock the star plays a wealthy rancher who is forced to settle local disputes while laying down the law for his quarrelsome wife and prideful daughter. Slapstick abounds in this loose adaptation of The Taming of the Shrew, with scenes of mudslides and spanking aided by the easy chemistry between Wayne and Maureen O’Hara.
