The Passion of Joan of Arc

82 minutes | 21 April 1928 | France

For her winning role at the head of the French army during the final phase of the Hundred Years’ War, Joan of Arc is captured by Burgundians loyal to the English and brought to stand trial for heresy in Rouen. Interrogated, deceived, and threatened with torture by the leading members of an ecclesiastical court, Joan is forced to sign a confession and mocked for claiming to see visions of saints. As more people begin to heed the nature of her calling, she reiterates her beliefs, has her head shaved, and after being convicted is burned at the stake.
