Culturedallroundman Playlists via YouTube 2

Playlist Cov 2

After making public precisely one month ago a first set of playlists via Culturedallroundman’s YouTube channel at youtube.com/culturedarm, here comes a second batch.

Of three new playlists, the first extends fromĀ my piece on Pierrot, the sad clown with whitened face and blouse, ā€˜Pierrot Through the Arts’. Incorporating film and theatre alongside music, the playlist features a scene from a 1951 French film on the life of the early nineteenth-century mime Jean-Gaspard Deburau; a performance of Claude Debussy’s Pierrot, which he set to music in 1881 but which wasn’t published until 1926; Arnold Schoenberg’s Pierrot Lunaire in full; a scene from Les Enfants du Paradis starring Jean-Louis Barrault; David Bowie on the stage in Lindsay Kemp’s Pierrot in Turquoise; and a fragment ofĀ Bjƶrk singing Pierrot Lunaire.

The second playlist draws from my piece ā€˜The Scythians and The Rite of Spring’, and includes music by Mikhail Glinka, Mily Balakirev,Ā Modest Mussorgsky, andĀ Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, in addition to Igor Stravinsky’s ballet. Finally I have brought together my ā€˜Songs of the Month’ for March. The playlists:
