Culturedallroundman Playlists via YouTube 2

Playlist Cov 2

After making public precisely one month ago a first set of playlists via Culturedallroundman’s YouTube channel at youtube.com/culturedarm, here comes a second batch.

Of three new playlists, the first extends fromĀ my piece on Pierrot, the sad clown with whitened face and blouse, ‘Pierrot Through the Arts’. Incorporating film and theatre alongside music, the playlist features a scene from a 1951 French film on the life of the early nineteenth-century mime Jean-Gaspard Deburau; a performance of Claude Debussy’s Pierrot, which he set to music in 1881 but which wasn’t published until 1926; Arnold Schoenberg’s Pierrot Lunaire in full; a scene from Les Enfants du Paradis starring Jean-Louis Barrault; David Bowie on the stage in Lindsay Kemp’s Pierrot in Turquoise; and a fragment ofĀ Bjƶrk singing Pierrot Lunaire.

The second playlist draws from my piece ‘The Scythians and The Rite of Spring’, and includes music by Mikhail Glinka, Mily Balakirev,Ā Modest Mussorgsky, andĀ Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, in addition to Igor Stravinsky’s ballet. Finally I have brought together my ‘Songs of the Month’ for March. The playlists:
