After making public precisely one month ago a first set of playlists via Culturedallroundmanās YouTube channel at youtube.com/culturedarm, here comes a second batch.
Of three new playlists, the first extends fromĀ my piece on Pierrot, the sad clown with whitened face and blouse, āPierrot Through the Artsā. Incorporating film and theatre alongside music, the playlist features a scene from a 1951 French film on the life of the early nineteenth-century mime Jean-Gaspard Deburau; a performance of Claude Debussyās Pierrot, which he set to music in 1881 but which wasnāt published until 1926; Arnold Schoenbergās Pierrot Lunaire in full; a scene from Les Enfants du Paradis starring Jean-Louis Barrault; David Bowie on the stage in Lindsay Kempās Pierrot in Turquoise; and a fragment ofĀ Bjƶrk singing Pierrot Lunaire.
The second playlist draws from my piece āThe Scythians and The Rite of Springā, and includes music by Mikhail Glinka, Mily Balakirev,Ā Modest Mussorgsky, andĀ Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, in addition to Igor Stravinskyās ballet. Finally I have brought together my āSongs of the Monthā for March. The playlists:
