In the spring of 2018, a dim memory now though the taste still lingers on our lips, Jon Bon Jovi released a rosé wine described by Newsweek as ‘a dive into the luxury of the Hamptons’. By the year’s end, Wine Spectator magazine was naming it the best rosé in the world, a fine accolade for the breezy blend of watermelon rind, sea salt air, and scarcely ripened strawberries. Now the Norwegian-American artist Okay Kaya has released an ode to the wine in the form of ‘Asexual Being’, from the upcoming album Watch This Liquid Pour Itself, due out in January. There are sips and snifters from Toro y Moi and Grimes, Kim Gordon makes the earth quake and the body shudder, A$AP Ferg drips and dips in first class, and we got a surprise album from KAYTRANADA. There are collabs from Ghostly and Adult Swim, and from Charli XCX and Tommy Genesis, and while Phoebe Bridgers and Fiona Apple are among those singing seasonal hymns, Lil Uzi Vert heralds the new year with ‘Futsal Shuffle’.
